犬追物: いぬおうもの【犬追物】

騎馬武者が，馬を操りつつ，犬を弓矢で射止める武術。騎射の三種の一。鎌倉時代に起こった。竹垣で方形の馬場をつくり，折烏帽子(オリエボシ)をかぶり，直垂(ヒタタレ)または素襖(スオウ)を着た三六騎の騎馬武者が三手に分かれ，そのうちの四騎ずつが一五〇匹の犬を射る。犬に傷をつけないために蟇目(ヒキメ)矢を用いる。応仁の乱に中絶したが，島津家が元和年間（1615-1624）に再興した。
